In order for insulation to perform properly, air sealing is a MUST! Otherwise, the insulation acts more as a filter than an insulator. When air can move through insulation, the insulation catches dirt, dust, allergens, and other air pollutants. Insulation should actually insulate. It can't do its job if air is allowed to pass through it. That's why is it very important to air seal BEFORE insulating.
